The runway at Cyril E. King Airport was temporarily closed after a private Piper Aztec experienced a flat tire while landing during touch-and-go training maneuvers. Two people were on board the aircraft and were not injured, but the plane remained on the runway until it was removed at approximately 1:45 p.m. The Virgin Islands Port Authority reopened the runway at 1:57 p.m. after completing safety inspections.

Both the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas (STT) and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix (STX) are open, and normal operations have resumed. Flights between STT and STX begin at 7 am today.

Airports in the US Virgin Islands are open, but FAA travel restrictions have canceled flights from U.S.-based air carriers. and aircrafts. Travelers are urged to contact airlines directly for flight updates.

Two projects at the CEKA runway will begin on December 1, 2025, through 2026, requiring nightly closures from 10 pm - 5 am.
