VIPA Begins Demolition of Former Cancryn School, Launching Phase One of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor Dredging Project
The former Cancryn School property, which FEMA condemned after the 2017 hurricanes, is scheduled for demolition. Work commenced this week with the initial clearing of the property, and secured fencing with controlled access is being installed. Building clearance and remediation activities are planned to begin on January 16, 2026, followed by structural demolition starting on February 7, 2026.
