VIPA to Demolish Two Derelict Bournefield Units Starting February 13

Writer: Virgin Islands Port AuthorityVirgin Islands Port Authority

The Virgin Islands Port Authority has contracted A9 Trucking Enterprise LLC to demolish two derelict buildings in the Bournefield Housing Community on St. Thomas. Units 205 and 230 are vacant units that were damaged in the 2017 storms and will be torn down. The derelict buildings are an eyesore and a safety hazard for residents living in the neighborhood.

Demolitions will begin on February 13 and will take approximately 60 days to complete. The contractor will be working in the Bournefield neighborhood from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The areas where the units are being demolished will be secured. However, VIPA advises the community to exercise caution when traversing the area while work is being conducted. The Authority also apologizes in advance for any inconvenience caused as it works to improve its properties.
