Gallows Bay Port Temporarily Closed Following Gas Tank Incident

[St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands] — The Gallows Bay Port Facility in Christiansted, St. Croix, is closed as a safety precaution following an accident involving a gas tank this morning. Virgin Islands Port Authority Acting Executive Director Bill Rawlins announced that this incident caused port operations delays today. Inspections conducted at the facility have led to the decision to evacuate and suspend all port activities until further notice. VIPA, VI Fire and Emergency Services, and the U.S. Coast Guard are responding to the incident. VIPA will continue to keep the public informed with updates on this situation.
