Containerport Temporarily Closed Following Gas Tank Incident

[St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands] — The Wilfred “Bomba” Allick Port and Transshipment Center (“the Containerport”) in Krause Lagoon, St. Croix, was closed at 10:30 this morning as a safety precaution to recover and inspect a gas tank that fell on the dock this morning. All operations at the port are suspended until further notice, and entry will not be allowed into the port facility. There were no injuries reported.

 

The Virgin Islands Port Authority, VI Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, and the U.S. Coast Guard are responding. VIPA will continue to update the public on this situation.
