CEKA Runway Reopens After Brief Closure for Repairs

The Cyril E. King Airport runway in St. Thomas (STT) reopened today at 3:00 p.m. after a brief closure for emergency runway repairs. Normal airport operations have resumed at CEKA.

The runway was closed for approximately one hour to repair a small section of pavement failure near the touchdown area on the runway. VIPA Territorial Airport Manager Jerome Sheridan said that four flights were delayed due to the temporary closure. VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe apologized for the inconvenience but emphasized that the repair was necessary to ensure the safety of the travelling public and airport users.
