The Austin "Babe" Monsanto Marine Terminal, located in Crown Bay, is one of two cruise ship ports in St. Thomas. It has two docks, which can accommodate three cruise ships simultaneously.

The main dock has two berths and can accommodate the Oasis-class ship. The south side of the dock is 940 feet in length with a draft of 37 feet, and the north side of the dock is 940 feet in length with a draft of 28 feet. The adjoining dock is 435 feet in length with a draft of 27 feet. There is also a smaller excursion dock used by tour vessels at this facility. The excursion dock is 15 feet wide by 220 feet long.
Vessels can obtain access to this port via the East Gregerie and the West Gregerie channels. Potable water, telephone, and taxi services are available at this site.

Located on the southside of St. Thomas, west of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor, Crown Bay Center is in Subbase and was formerly a United States naval base in the 1940s and 1950s. Now it is a colorful and welcoming commercial and destination complex. It is a gateway to the U.S. Virgin Islands where cruise passengers can relax, shop, and dine and then perhaps venture out to local beaches, tours, excursions, and sightseeing.

THE MONSANTO MARINE TERMINAL HISTORY

The Monsanto Marine Terminal is a former U.S. naval seaport. It is now a bustling cruise facility with a busy marina next door, and a variety of shopping and dining venues for visitors. In an effort to meet the demands of the cruise lines who are building larger ships with more passengers, the Port Authority invested $28 million in 2003 to develop the Crown Bay Center - an upscale commercial mall that offers dining, shopping, and other entertainment venues that can be enjoyed by visitors and residents alike. Construction of the mall and main cruise ship pier expansion was completed in July 2006.
This facility was named in honor of VIPA's first marine manager, the late Austin "Babe" Monsanto, by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands via Act No. 6935.
