The Virgin Islands Port Authority's Law Enforcement Force consists of officers trained by the Virgin Islands Police Department.  All officers must meet the same requirements as the officers that serve the VIPD.

The St. Thomas/St. John LEO force consists of 19 officers (including three K9 officers), one lieutenant and a police chief. 

On St. Croix, the LEO force is comprised of 8 officers, one sergeant and a police chief.  LEO Chiefs also oversee the security monitors at the airport terminals on St. Thomas and St. Croix.

VIPA Law Enforcement Officer are responsible for the protection of life and property on all Port Authority facilities.  Officers monitor and enforce all laws  of the United States of America and local laws of the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Port police interact regularly with the public and must always display a courteous, firm and impartial demeanor when dealing with the public.

Minimum Qualifications

- U.S. or Naturalized Citizen
- Not less than 20 or more than 35 years of age
- Pass entry level exam & physical agility test
- High school diploma/GED Equivalency & transcript
- Excellent physical and mental condition
- Certification from VI Dept. of Health on physical fitness, 20/20 vision and correctable lenses
- No criminal record
- Drug free
- Completion of entry level training program
- Pass physiological assessment
- Valid U.S. Virgin Islands drivers license
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends & holidays

The VIPA Law Enforcement Force has two islands districts: St Thomas/Water Island/St. John and St. Croix. Officers may live and work in the district of their choice (provided manpower positions are available in the chosen district).
