Securing our Port Facilities

Safety and security are top priorities at all the ports owned and operated by the Virgin Islands Port Authority.

Our law enforcement force was established in 1999 by the VI Legislature VI Act 4205.  Since September 11, 2001, Port Authority and other local and federal government agencies responsible for security have greatly expanded their efforts to protect the ports of the United States Virgin Islands and its surrounding facilities.  The Port takes a leadership role in the development of strategies to mitigate security risks, working closely with both public and private entities to plan and coordinate security measures.
