The VI Port Authority (VIPA) is a semi-autonomous agency that owns and manages the two airports and the majority of the public seaports in the United States Virgin Islands - a territory of the United States of America. We are also charged with maintaining the harbors in the territory. 

Our mandate is to promote the wise use of these facilities for the betterment of the U.S. Virgin Islands and its people, and to assist our government and our community in fostering and sustaining sound economic development.

ST. CROIX - Open

  • The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and all VIPA seaports on St. Croix are open and fully operational. Call (340) 778-1012 for more information.

ST. THOMAS/ST. JOHN - Assessments and clean-up underway.

  • All seaports in the St. Thomas/St. John district are open.  Ferry and barge service between Cruz Bay, St. John and Red Hook, St. Thomas are limited and only operational during daylight hours.

  • The Cyril E. King Airport is only open to emergency relief flights.  

    CEKA will not be open for commercial flights on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

    Commercial flights will resume at the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas once the Transportation Security Administration is fully functional. Damage to the roof is preventing TSA from operating its equipment and repairs were hampered further by heavy rains on 9/15/2017. 

    Local officials will meet with TSA and the airlines on 9/17/2917 in order to determine when normal operations will resume. Humanitarian and military flights are scheduled for this weekend. Scheduled charter flights from major airlines are expected to begin Monday.

    Those with travel reservations are advised to contact their airline for updates on schedule changes.

    Cape Air resumed St. Thomas/St. Croix air service on September 15, 2017. Seaborne has also resumed their seaplane service between St. Thomas and St. Croix. VIPA is awaiting confirmation on when Seaborne will resume their St. Thomas/St. Croix airport service.


  • All VIPA employees should report to work.  Employee ID badges may be used as curfew passes.

  • Communication via the Internet/E-mail or telephone in the St. Thomas/St. John district is difficult as many towers and lines were damaged during Hurricane Irma.  However, VIPA will continue to post updates as frequently as possible.
