Leasing Port Authority Property
 

Property Management Department

The Virgin Islands Port Authority offers the majority of its properties in both the aviation and marine division for lease. Aviation properties include terminal spaces (offices, counters and concessions), cargo warehousing, and general aviation-related spaces. Marine properties include unimproved spaces for warehousing and passenger facility spaces (offices, counters and concessions) and many more.

Our director of property management oversees the control and administration of lands, facilities and other improvements under the jurisdiction of VIPA. The property management department negotiates leases, permits and contractual concession agreements, and other satellite activities pertaining to property management - including the supervision and collection of revenues for VIPA.  All requests to lease property, establish a concession or to obtain permits to use VIPA's facilities should be made in writing to the attention of the property manager.

Requests to Lease Space
at our Airport & Seaport Facilities

  • Submit a written letter of request with a description of the property you would like to lease and the purpose of your business/organization.
     
  • Complete a tenant application form. Applications can be obtained from the Property Management Department on St. Thomas or St. Croix or downloaded from this link.
     
  • You can hand deliver your application, or mail it to the address listed below. Please be sure to include all the required documents listed on the application's checklist.
     
  • Application Fee (Effective 01 Nov. 2008):
    -- $75 for existing tenants
    -- $150 for new tenants
     
  • The property management staff reviews the application. If approved, it will be forwarded to VIPA's Governing Board Property Committee.
     
  • The Property Committee reviews the application and makes a recommendation to the Board, which makes a final decision on the application.
     
  • The Executive Director will then advise applicants in writing of the Board's decision and of any additional information needed to complete the agreement.
     
  • As per VIPA Board policy the VI Port Authority is no longer accepting new applications for rentals at Bourne Field on St. Thomas. 
    (The Bourne Field Housing Community, located adjacent to the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas, was constructed during the 1960s on 8.84 acres as barracks for naval officers and their families. The VI Port Authority now manages the property and currently leases the remaining apartments to Port employees and other residents.)
